Dash cam recommendations

Preferably those that don't need to be wired directly into the cars wiring.

and go!

i dont think any of them need to be hard wired. most of them are 5v, so the step down circuitry is in the plug end. but the best place for the camera is as high up on the windshield as possible, which means a wire hanging down, or you can thread it in/at the headliner, and route it down to the cigarette lighter plug. if you do that, might as well hard wire it. the best idea i have seen is the inside rear view mirror replacement. but only one place(and they are out)has the replacement assembly, and it needs to be hard wired. but it also has all kinds of stuff, gps, navigation, rear camera(not the factory one). and, you can record both front and rear cameras. so if you are driving, and someone behind you is behaving badly, you can record it. and if the car is parked, and you are gone, and some sob whacks it, the camera will record it. then you can surprise them in small claims. the reason i like the rexing v1 type is that it mounts close, no suction cup hanger to interfere with vision. i can see where dashcams will either be an option, or come standard on all cars in the future. some bmw's now have them both forward, side, and rear.

There's a couple threads about dash cams already that you should look through. You didn't say what price range you want either so that's going to be a big factor. They all have similar or different features, so those will be factors to consider.

For the most part I like the Rexing V1, but I've already had some issues with it and it's 3 weeks old. Now my power port does't work. But it takes good videos and it's out of the way and not highly visible when mounted.

Seriously, what good is a video recording device if it fails on you /? I've read a large amount of posts in regards to the other Hyundai topics with this discussion. Most of you guys are scooping up those Rexing cameras.

Sidenote- cool mod list in regards to your MD! Cars are so boring when they are kept as is from the factory.

I bought a Limited Edition Hyundai Elantra, clearly price is no object here.

For real though, cheap, cuz I bought an Elantra

I just did the research. Bought. Trial tested over the weekend. You want plug and play? eBay: "mini 0806." Ordered mine from a seller in Kentucky: about $89?? Free shipping. There are other sellers $100-$120+. Check out the YouTube installs/reviews.

Comes with everything BUT a hardwire kit. Lots of vent holes to disipate heat. Has cigar lighter plug with HDMI port included. Mounting stuff, extra harness for PC hookup, small clips for site runs, easy to understand manual (English, no less). Holds two micro sd's...up to 128gb each (total: 256gb) Anything above 32gb, needs Fat32 formatting. I'm using a single Samsung 64gb class 10. ($24 at Best Buy last week w/ adapter).

Not gonna get into the details, too many to mention...you can check it out for yourself. Here's an objective review on the 0806, as well as its "ancestors."

I'm kidding! Anyone that hasn't heard about them, well...their (anyone) research skills suck! BBMC is very well know.

Those looking at a quality product should look into Thinkware. They're amazing! I so want to jump on the new F800, but the color of the swivel lens is the minor holdback for me. Wish is was more stealth like and matched the black body of the rest of the dash cam.
