Anyone Have The Clarion NX700E Bluetooth Need Help

Having just bought my 2010 Santa Fe having some problem with the fitted system.
By the looks of it, this was fitted by Hyundai as one of the choices for the model when the car was bought new, I think this is correct.
I am having trouble with the Bluetooth part of it and I am hoping someone can help that has got the same system.
Obviously coming up to 5 years old there has been many new phones since that system was fitted and I cannot get the system to work my phone.
I had a look on Clarions website and downloaded the update, loaded that on the system and that went through fine but that update is still 4 years out of date.
Since the update the system does find my phone and pair with it, but that is as far as it goes, it won't stay connected to it or anything, so therefore can't do anything at all with it, it just constantly says connecting on the screen.
Is there anything more I can do, I will phone Clarion and see if there is anything that can be done but obviously they are shut now.
Has anyone successfully registered a modern phone on the system and is there any tips or tricks or help that can get it to work.
It's the Clarion NX700E.
Many thanks.

Let's just say that I am surprised it was not an LG system, but I have no idea for certain who manufactured the 2010 OEM units.

I think it is probably because I am in the UK.
Phoned Clarion and they instantly knew that radio was on a Santa Fe.
It seems the last update was in 2011 so I seemed to be pretty much stuffed unless I buy an older phone which is not going to happen as I pay a contract, other option by a separate Bluetooth system or going to have to upgrade the radio.
Everything is out of date on in the Navigation is pretty much.
So I guess the only option is by a new unit at a costly price.
I don't think it would do any good phoning Hyundai unless the System classes as a Warranty item as there is still some remaining of the 5 years.
If I buy a separate Bluetooth and a separate Navigation will be running into the price of a new unit.
So annoying on a car I have just purchased.

Looks like maybe I need to phone Clarion again as it's not working with a phone that it is on there compatibility list either.

You don't say what model phone you have. When my Bluetooth was acting up I bought a stereo cable to plug into the phone, and then into the AUX on the radio. Pressing AUX turns off the program and transfers audio to the phone's output, sending the audio through the car's speakers. The microphone on my phone is good enough to pick up my voice, and is right in front of me on the dash. I can hear them, they can hear me.

I'm not too sure how that would work but the phone is the HTC One M8, but checking the compatibility had an old sony ericsson that was on the list, but doesn't appear to connect either, just keeps saying connecting nothing happens.
My previous car was year 2008 and had no problems at all with my phone.

That phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack that should be compatible with a stereo cable you can buy just about anywhere. I would get one with at least one right-angle connector

You don't want some long thing hanging out waiting to be broken off or damage the headphone jack.

Plug the other end into the AUX jack on the stereo, and the phone audio will come on any time you press AUX on the stereo.

It's kind of a sucky workaround on a unit that SHOULD work with your phone, but it seems you head unit has seen better days as far as the bluetooth is concerned.

For a new unit; you'll have to check this further, but I believe any unit with a CANBUS connection should allow the steering wheel controls to work.

Thanks for that.
I have contacted Clarion and updated them on the info, they said that would get a technician to call me back, but they never did do will be phoning again on Monday.
Dated or not the Bluetooth system is obviously faulty cause it is not working with any type of phone, have tried everybody's phone including one on the compatibility.
Possibly it could have always been like it, as the previous owner might have never used the Bluetooth, hopefully will get to speak to someone Monday, if not think my best option would be to replace with something better.

There are various Bluetooth spec. I used to have a Bluetooth rear view mirror. My newer phone would not pair with it. Sees it but cannot process audio. I had to switch to a different device and not use it anymore. Unless there is an update for it you're out of luck. Many IPhone user run into this as Apple changes the spec's on there newer devices and built in connections are no longer supported including USB communications for playback. Its not new and I am not at all surprised. When you plan on updating the built in stereo verifying 100% that your preferred phone is supported is key. You cannot assume it will work because earlier or other products did. This being a factory installed unit designed many years ago will likely be a problem since this type of support is not provided. Hyundai does not make Stereos and all OEM have them made for them. Firmware update if not provided by the company making them will not be available from the auto dealer either.
Once in a service dept of Jeep. They had a list posted of Smartphones not supported by there Stereo's. If a customer of a new or newer vehicle had one. That's it simply not supported by the head. Next customer.... that's how it is.

It the same thing with add on peripherals for Windows. You update to a new OS and there aren't any drivers for your printer, scanner, webcam and the list goes on. You have to check that before making the plunge because you cannot go back (reverse it).

Thanks for the information tripplec,
I know your always going to get problems and updates aren't always good for certain things, but I have tested it with a supposed compatible phone that is on Clarions list for that radio and it still doesn't work, it can't get passed the stage of connecting, it has no problem recognising or pairing them just won't connect to use, so there is obviously some problem along the line with the Bluetooth itself, if the system is faulty then someone needs to look into it, whether it is clarion or Hyundai, if it was just simply out of date then I would just get the whole thing replaced, pretty sure that's what I am going to do, but not going to pay out to replace if it is a fault with the system, don't mind say paying some extra to upgrade to a more modern system or something with clarion, but hopefully if can get a technician to call me back at clarion we can find out one way or another whether the system is at fault.
