Sylvania Silverstar Ultra vs. Philips CrystalVision Ultra (vs. OEM)

Any thoughts on this? Here is another post from the Veloster forum:

Still looking for bulb types, neither the sylvania or philips websites have the 2013 Sante Fe. I guess I'll just have to pull the bulb unless someone can chime in.

My biggest complaint with Silverstars has been life. I put Silverstars in my wife's car about 7 or 8 years ago and since then they have burned out at LEAST once a year, sometimes twice. (Yes I am careful not to touch the bulb and even wear gloves to be sure not to transfer my skin oils.)

After reading some of that thread you linked, THIS would be my first concern: "I used the SSU's in my Boxster and burned the lenses as they were very hot. Let us know if you have any issues."

The Santa Fe uses those projector lenses and there is a plastic cover sealing the whole assembly in that the light projects through - I wonder how hot they get?

I personally do not like the blue color of these "HID wannbe" bulbs. I can often tell the difference between these and a true HID from miles away.

That's why I went with the GE Nighthawk Platinum. Rather than being a completely blue bulb, the GE only has a small strip of blue to create a nice white headlight, therefore, not trying to be something it is definitely not...ie. HID.

Fact is though, all these 'super bright' bulbs will only last between 10-16 months because they burn so hot to get the light output. Of course, life depends on your driving conditions etc.

I can say though, that some fellow Highlander owners, raved the Philips X-Treme bulb they purchased from the UK. The longevity seems to be much better with these bulbs over many others, including my GE. Prices are reasonable too.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Headlight Bulb Size

I just opened my headlight housings and the Low Beams say H11, High Beams say H7. I will have to check out the Sylvania's myself.

Not sure about the ones you are mentioning but I ordered the low beams H7 replacements (Philips X-treme Power). I hope they are correct since I ordered the H7's based on the owner's manual. I also ordered a DRL LED kit which I will probably install next weekend.

low headlights are H11s

yes that is correct. lows are H11s, highs are H7s and fogs are H8s. Lows are incorrectly labeled H7s in owners manual.

My other Honda is a Hyundai

Where would you even mount the DL kit since we do not even have any kind of recessed place to put them other than inside of the grill?

Inside the lowest part of the grill. I ordered the small kit (8 LED each light - 4-in long). Also ordered their DRL Light On/Off Switch.

It fits perfectly and is just right for that area. The LED's are bright enough and does what I want. Hopefully I can work on it this weekend. Will post pics when I am done.

Prmax, would the led modules have fit in the bumper, just above the silver portion?
