Question 2015 Sonata Key Fob Battery Replacement

I own a 2015 Sonata 2.0 turbo (Date built: Aug, 2014). I got a low battery warning on my dash today, indicating that my key fob battery was low. It's only been 2 years. Can someone answer these questions for me?

* I thought smart key batteries are supposed to last many years. Could this be a defective key fob?
* Will Hyundai cover the battery replacement?
* If I have to replace the battery on my own, how do I do it? I've seen youtube videos on previous year models, but not the 2015.
* What type of battery does my key fob need?

I am attaching a photo of what my key fob looks like.
Thanks!

I'd like to know too.
I assume the key comes out and you can use the key to pry open the case like Toyota/Lexus but I don't know for sure and the manual has squat on how to change the battery.According to the manual,a 2032 battery is used..

I noticed our key fob has a really really long range. I can walk half a block away, push the button and see my car lights flash! So that may contribute to quicker battery drainage.

i'm sure it's just a coin battery you can pick up at your local dollar store. Do that first before resorting to warranty claim, less headaches. Some other folks have changed the battery here on this forum, try a search for older threads.

If battery runs out before you replace, just pull out the actual key from the fob, use that. And touch/push the start button using your fob to start car.

The OM actually says " Battery Type: CR2032
To replace the battery:
1. Pry open the rear cover of the
smart key.
2. Remove the old battery and insert
the new battery.
3. Reinstall the rear cover of the
smart key.
When I tried to pry off the rear cover the front button surround came off instead.

Just did it in less than 5 minutes.
I pryed the case open with the key and small screwdriver to pry the battery out.
Works fine!

I doubt remote batteries are covered past 12/12. Two years is not unreasonable life out of it. Batteries are inconsistent even within the same brand and size. The can last forever seemingly, or a short time.

True.
My remote battery is a year and 3/4 old and works fine but I figured I'll change it.I bought a two pack of Eveready Energizer 2032 awhile back on Amazon for under $2.

Could be. Replace the battery and if you still see the warning it was defective. If the warning goes away, it wasn't defective.

Highly doubtful, and not worth the hassle anyway. It's a $2 battery, it will take you longer to drive one-way to the dealer than it will to replace it.

Also - it failed on my wife's non-Hyundai and the dealer sold her a new battery - it was 4-years old, so not a total rip-off, but a week later we swapped the fob battery ourselves and fixed the issue she took it into service for.
