OBD2 Scanners

What scanners are some of you using to check and clear codes or simply to monitor engine specifics? I just bought a cheap blue tooth scanner from Amazon for $17.99 although it shown now for $19.99. Also bought the Torque Pro app for $4.99 for kicks to monitor some things.

Below is a screen shot of my phone with some of what you can view using the app. The three things I really care about in that shot are coolant temp., oil temp and trans temp. Oil and trans temp do not work, but,I think its because I need to buy the advanced EX app for hyundai for $4.99. For those that use Torque Pro can you confirm that oil and trans temp will work with the EX app?

Other guys on other forums re-write or program their own code within the Pid,but, that is way beyond me.

Torque Pro gauges currently also purchased an obd2 extension to place next to me and not damage the original port by plugging/unplugging the scanner. I did my own install of my Att tablet in dash and i use that to monitor Torque pro gauges, plus navigation, music etc all thru Bluetooth.

If you want one all the time with no phone the UltraGauge is great.

Thats the add on I mentioned, but,it is $4.99. You have a free version? Did you have to do anything special to get the oil and trans temp guages to work?

Nice set up. How long is that OBD2 extension cable and do you have a link to it?

There are 2 add-on EX and LX. yes i did purchase the EX and that one will add those specific plugins. The 6.2ft cable i purchased on ebay. There is a step by step instructions how to install it on torquePro, when you scroll thru the EX add-on. Not sure if all Bluetooth obd2 work the same and retrieve same data when plugin im running the Kiwi3

So I use the KW903 adapter, you can get them fairly cheap on ebay.

Also make sure you run either the free version of the pids or the paid version. Don't try to mix and match, this can break the torque app.

I went through and took screenshots to guide you through setting up the pids.

From the main screen click on "Advanced EX or LT for Hyundai"

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-45-08 copy.jpg

Under Plugin Settings select "Car Model" - (choose the YF Theta for now)

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-45-23 copy.jpg

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-46-16.jpg

Back at the Plugin Settings selete "Update Rate"

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-45-23 copy2.jpg

Choose "High"

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-46-30.jpg

Go back to the Main Screen and click the gear icon, then choose "Settings"

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-46-46 copy.jpg

In Torque Settings scroll down till you see "Manage extra PIDs/Sensors" and select it

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-47-05 copy.jpg

At the Manage custom OBD2 PIDs screen press the menu button on your phone to get the menu below and then choose "Add Predefined Set"

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-47-31 copy.jpg

Select the Hyundai Sonata 2.0 T-GDI (YF Theta)

Screenshot_2017-09-12-23-47-48.jpg

Now go back to the main screen and select "Realtime Information"

Add a new display, choose the display type

All of the new PIDs will have [HADV] in front of them

Screenshot_2017-09-13-00-13-24.jpg

If the added HADV PID doesn't work then you will have to create or modify it to get the correct value.

Hope this helps!

BTW I don't know why some pictures are big and some pictures are small...
