Blue Link Remote Start

A month into ownership & love the car (2017 Limited 2.0T); disgusted with the Blue Link Remote feature. Hasn't worked half the time, when it does has a long delay, but today got a new failure message - "system not available?" What does that mean? Blue Link system down? Maintenance? Anyone ever get that on a start failure message?

What I don't understand is why does Hyundai link the Remote Start to BlueLink using your Cell Phone? Why don't they just link the Remote Start to the Key Fob like most other manufacturers?

My past cars could be Remote Started by touching two buttons in the Key Fob in sequence.

Really does not matter to me as I never or very seldom used the Remote Start. (Only to "Show Off").

remote start via BlueLink is not limited by distance. You can start the car hundreds and thousands miles away (for 10 minutes only). Bluelink remote is more like a phone call from New York to Tokyo.

I've had remote start in my cars for the past 25 years, and never had a defect with them - perfect & immediate start every time. That's what's particularly annoying about Blue Link - I buy a new car that can't do what cars have done for the past quarter century - and I'm paying for that pleasure! They want to push Blue Link and a cellphone app as an added feature, fine - but until they can make it perform as good as a 20 year old Chevy, just put the start button back on the remote where it belongs.

We had dealership install aftermarket remote start. Got 2 remotes and 2 Hyundai key fobs.
After all that, the Hyundai key fob will remote start car by pressing the "lock" button 3 times within 5 seconds.
Of course the aftermarket remote is 3x the distance as Hyundai remote

I tend to believe there is nothing wrong with your car. I guess you have a problem with your BlueLink account validation. If you can't fix your account from your home computer, call customer service and ask for help.

That sounds like the way I need to go - do you know the manufacturer of the installed unit? I'll look into it - thanks!

If it didn't work at all, I might agree with you; but it's an intermittent thing, so that doesn't sound like something i can change within the account. I was sent a customer satisfaction survey 30 days after purchase, when i checked off "remote start problem" it branched off into a detailed questionnaire about what i was experiencing specifically. I'm obviously not the only one that's having issues; apparently ongoing issues that have been there since the birth of Blue Link. I'll give them a call, but not expecting they can offer a solution. Could be something like a loose antenna connection or weak signal coming from the car, but that's a long shot.

Fortin typically has systems that work with 3x of the OEM remote, but Directed likely does also.

They are selling it as a subscription service. It is simple to make an app the stops working if you don't renew it. It is harder (but not impossible) to make a physical system that doesn't work if you don't renew it.

I had an intermittent issues too after first week... When I ran into the issues, I've changed my Login password, and my PIN (from default 2018 to my current), and now I'm all set. Once by mistake I remotely started from home the car that was parked by my wife in Clifton, NJ

Added: during my intermittent problems period I could login into my account after 4-7 attempts, and after sudden login I has a message that my "registration form has expired". And I do not talk about my cell phone - I had troubles on line with myhyundai website while working from desktop
