Alternate Battery Sizes

My Sonata has been cranking a little slow the past 4-5 days, here in Phoenix the heat kills batteries and it's over 3 years old which is past average here.

Starting to look into replacements and AutoZone and O'Reillys want $220, which is ridiculous. O'Reilly's is a 94R and the AutoZone is an H7.

Anyone know of alternate sizes, I know people do this with a lot of other cars. I'm thinking of a 24F, but it's about 1 inch taller and probably won't fit.

Thanks.

The interesting thing is that shows MT5-94R/H7 for both 2.4L and 1.6L Sonata 2016, but MT7-48/H6 and MT5-48/H6 for the 2.0L Sonata 2016.

Besides the difference in the size, - I am surprised that the website doesn't suggest MTP (Megatron Plus) such as "MTP-94R/H7" and "MTP-48/H6", respectively, which is both cheaper, and has a longer warranty. I don't understand the reason... Maybe I am missing some important detail at this late hour. But that's what I would consider.

PS. I see the difference: ATP has somewhat lower cranking amps rating.
For 94R/H7 size, MTP is rated for Cranking Amps: 985; Cold Cranking Amps: 790,
whereas MT5 is rated: Cranking Amps: 1000; Cold Cranking Amps: 850
I don't know the ratings for the battery that came with the vehicle.

Do you have an Advance Auto near you? If so, use coupon code HXF3BX to take $50 off so it would be $172 for the H7 Platinum battery.

Also check Sam's Club and Costco if you have memberships. The batteries have a longer full replacement period. I bought one for my Explorer, and never had to buy another, as they always died during the full replacement part of the warranty.

Also in PHX.... Finally cooling down..Sub 100's

if you replace battery, and plant to keep your car for at least 5 more years, get optima.

as long as it is 12v lead acid battery and fits it will work fine regardless of brand, thou some brands will work longer.

I've never looked at Sam's Club brands, but Walmart's one, which has a long full replacement period is known to be rather unreliable. It is a choice everybody should make for him/herself.
Yes, you get it replaced for free well within that warranty period (some people have to replace it every 1-2 years), but do you want to risk getting stranded in the middle of nowhere?

At least 3/4 of the batteries are made by Johnson Controls - regardless of what the case says. Not sure how much variation there is between brands.
