2.0T owners who had the intake hose replaced...
Hopefully starting another thread about this doesn't bother people lol. Mine broke a month ago. It was replaced Thursday. On my way home, the car definitely feels better but there is still a loud spooling noise. I took it right back and they verified everything is tight and connected. I just puled the filter box and the hose to verify it but these pictures indicate what I see. There are slits in the hard plastic portion of the new hose at the turbo. They seem to extend a bit too far towards the body of the hose. You can see my finger on the other side of the slits in one of the pictures. I think they are causing the noise.
I don't have a smoke machine except for my lungs lol. I removed the complete assembly and blocked off the ports as well as the inlet side with my hand. I lit a cigarette and blew the smoke into the hose from the filter box side. Smoke came out of the slits. I'm not sure if this is particular to the one I got or if it's the entire production run. My dealership said they got two in - one for my car and one for stock. I'm going to swing by there tomorrow to see if they'll let me examine the other one. If the slits are the same, then the "redesign" needs a redesign in my opinion. But I want to ask if anyone else that had this piece replaced notices louder-than-before intake noise/spooling. I can hear it windows down or up. Like I said, the power/torque is certainly back to normal but the noise is certainly loud.
