How to replace headlight or wiper switch (several pictures)

I had to replace the headlight/turn signal switch (called combination switch in Hyundai parts list) on my wife's 2007 Accent.

Tools:#2 Philips, 1/8" and 3/16 straight screwdrivers and key

Removed 3 screws, 1 underneath, 2 hidden by steering wheel. Turn the key so you can turn the steering wheel.

Use the slotted screwdrivers to pry the plastic apart

This one has tilt steering so I pulled it down to help get the two pieces apart.

The bottom plastic piece has small plastic pins ( 1 on left, 3 on right). Be careful when reinstalling.

Remove plug by pushing in lever. I also needed a straight blade to help get it out.

Use straight blade screwdriver to press in tab and slide out.

The switch has a white tip that goes into a slot in the column.

This is the upper plastic piece, the clip slides into a slot on top of the column.

Push the new switch into place, make sure it is seated.
Push the blue plug into place, make sure it is seated.
Test switch.
Take you time when putting the plastic together. Took a couple minutes to get the four plastic pins and clips lined up before I could snap them together. Use the tilt steering if you have it to wiggle the pieces into place.
Insert screws.

Total time was about 20 minutes. That included taking the pictures.

Just a small tip so you do not damage the cover as shown by your scew driver. Undo from the left side. Reach you hand in through the steering wheel adjustment latch lever hole . press out with your fingers while pressing in on the outside of the cover. The pressure will open the gap so to fit the tip of the screw driver in to easily pop it off. Remember the ignition switch has a rubber circle around it that needs to be pressed in when installing or the steering wheel will rub up against the cover. Peace....

will show you how to correctly remove the cover. Funny I saw this post as I am currently working my way through this system in a video series on my Hyundai repair site.
